We are back with another song of the week here at Rising Son Records. We have chosen to feature Arlo Guthrie & Family, “Mailman”!

In the early 1990s, Arlo and his family paid homage to Arlo’s father, Woody Guthrie, by recording the album “Woody’s 20 Grow Big Songs”. This is a collection of children's songs written by Woody Guthrie. 

While Arlo himself doesn't sing on the track “Mailman”, the song embodies the spirit of the album through its familial collaboration. It features Arlo's brother Joady Guthrie, sister Nora Guthrie, and daughters Cathy, Annie, and Sarah Lee Guthrie, as well as his niece Anna Canoni. This ensemble of voices across generations highlights the enduring power of Woody's songwriting and the way his music continues to connect and inspire families.
